Pet Portraiture

Loving animals has been a lifelong experience. Dogs or cats have been in my home since I was a small child, and I’ve come to feel that a household without a pet contains a void where a family member should be, like an expectant but empty seat at the dining room table. I began attempting to capture them on canvas about ten years ago, and have a strong desire to capture the essence of each animal subject. It is a goal with each portrait to convey the soul of the animal and to make the eyes the strongest focal point. Pet portraits have been part of my artistic journey because they are my kids, my companions, and are cherished. I’ve painted animals on commission both locally and abroad.
